Fall is in the Air at Uptown Plaza on October 26 |

October signals the beginning of fall around the Valley, with cooler temperatures and pumpkin decorations aplenty. To celebrate this time of year, Uptown Plaza is hosting a ‘Fall is in the Air’ event on Saturday, October 26th in the shopping center courtyard. From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 pm., this family-friendly event will feature face painting by Sweet Pea Face Painting, pumpkin decorating, Halloween crafts, yard games and more. Scoopwell’s Dough Bar will have speed stack races outside of their shop, with the fastest time every half hour earning a free four-scoop of dough. Shake Shack will be in the courtyard offering custard tastings as well. Live acoustic music by The Waters will be played in the courtyard from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Uptown Plaza is located on the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Camelback Road, in the heart of Phoenix’s historic north-central neighborhood. Uptown Plaza is Launching an Art Contest for Seven Wooden Benches |

Uptown Plaza is central Phoenix will be accepting submissions for artwork on their seven benches around the center. The contest will run from June 1st through the 15th.

The benches were made by Modern Manor’s Ryan Durkin, who recreated them based on blueprints found in an old trunk of one of Disneyland’s original designers.

Artists will have one month to complete their artwork (July 1-31), which will then be placed back at Uptown Plaza with a placard acknowledging each artists work. A stipend will be given to the seven chosen artists.

Uptown Plaza, 100 E. Camelback Road, is welcoming spring with a series of free events every Saturday in March. Come for movies, music and yoga in the courtyard, and stay for lunch or dinner at one of the plaza’s 11 restaurants or browse the offerings at one of 11 retailers on-site. The March schedule includes: movie screening of “The Sandlot,” 6 p.m. March 2; music by Mike Chapman, 4-7 p.m. March 9; Yoga in the Courtyard with Sweatshop, 10:30 a.m. March 16; acoustic music, 4-7 p.m. March 23; and movie screening of “La La Land,” 6 p.m. March 30. Every Saturday before Christmas (Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22) from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., guests can take pictures with Santa, sip hot cocoa and apple cider provided by Elly’s Brunch & Cafe, and hand off the gift-wrapping hassle to professional “elves.”
